<div align="justify">Here's an interesting fact...</div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">I have never been to any of Jean Georges's restaurants. It's not lack of trying as I was a big admirer from afar. Especially the menu items are so Instagram worthy which you swore his food was made for that platform. This is why I'm so happy to finally check mark this place in my list.</div><div align="justify"><br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Restaurant space" height="640" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48838568183_4582e68996_z.jpg" width="480" /><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;">Inside of the Restaurant</span><br />
<br />
</div></div><div align="justify">Several interesting notes when visiting his namesake restaurant in the luxury hotel of Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills. One, the parking is valet only. Steep one for four hours. Self parking at the hotel next door will triple the price in that four hour span, so you might as leave your car with the valet in front of the hotel/restaurant.</div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">Second, the famous chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten actually have another place on the rooftop of the hotel. That menu is more geared towards lounge bite sets. Heard it was popular among the young hip crowd who love the rooftop pool scenes.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Caviar on Egg White Toast" height="540" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48838309288_29fc18053e_z.jpg" width="540" /><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><b>Toasted Egg Yolk With Caviar</b></span></div><br />
To our esteemed classic French restaurant with his namesake Jean-Georges Beverly Hills, this menu has several inspirations and touches that revolves around California seasoned ingredients that mixed with traditional French cooking techniques.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Untitled" height="640" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48838309283_098d5c6278_z.jpg" width="480" /><br />
<b><span style="font-size: x-small;">Sweet Corn Soup</span></b></div><br />
His most well known dish many have come to expect was his Toasted Egg Yolk with Caviar. This one little starter will always win the Instagram photo contest. Several other things to ponder in this elegant, huge open space of a restaurant was their cocktail drinks. The patio setting gave an intimate setting to classy upscale atmosphere inside the big beautiful open space.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Seared Sea Bass" height="540" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48838309263_773c82553e_z.jpg" width="540" /><br />
<b><span style="font-size: x-small;">Roasted Black Bass</span></b></div><br />
While you digest the toasted egg yolk caviar while immersing yourself in this relaxing atmosphere, you will also love the different classic cocktails that are presented here. Some are inventive, while most of the drinks are keeping it recognizable for the unconcerned crowd. So you can obviously see that majority of the clientele tends to know what they want before looking at the cocktail menu. That probably got my attention when half of the people I have overheard kept ordering either an Old Fashioned or a Rum/Coke.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Grilled Pork Chop" height="480" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48838858127_445fc2051f_z.jpg" width="540" /><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><b>Fragrant Spiced Pork Chop</b></span></div><br />
Interesting portion of the menu comes in the entrees where I becoming more attuned to the California sourced ingredients. Especially with their version of roasted Sea Bass and the Grilled Pork Chop. Love the take on the classic French cuisine using local sourced ingredients. Out of all the items menu, I strongly encouraged people to get the roasted sea bass.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Untitled" height="640" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48838939946_61fdc393a8_z.jpg" width="480" /><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><b>Mezcal Lavender Negroni</b></span></div><br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Untitled" height="640" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48839114082_70a8cb2a08_z.jpg" width="480" /><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><b>Raspberry Lychee Bellini</b></span></div><br />
Overall, I love my dining experience here at Jean-Georges. The desserts also impressed me with their creativity. This place works as a special occasion dining venue, but I can see it as a regular casual meetup place (for the locals who lived in that area). It seemed to have regulars here who dined in without reservations.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Untitled" height="540" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48838858052_2e9f547410_z.jpg" width="540" /><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><b>Peach Pavola</b> with Olive Oil Ice Cream</span></div><br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Untitled" height="640" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48838721067_d1b48ca230_z.jpg" width="540" /><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><b>Myer Lemon Pudding</b></span></div><br />
If there is one thing I get out of my dining experience here is that I should venture out to his other locations and dine at his famed New York's restaurants. This is now become my new bucket list for destination dining. After that night, I really want to try it.<br />
<br />
I heard I don't have to worry about parking in that NYC area... as there is no parking available.<br />

<div align="justify">It's difficult to find a place to live in Los Angeles. Shoot!..it's even more difficult to find the right location for a business. It's all about the location when you're talking a restaurant.</div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">That's why it was so fascinating to see when a group of entrepreneurs decided to open up a place in the heart of Art District near the packing district. A firehouse was being remodeled into a boutique hotel with a cute outdoor patio restaurant and a bar in where a fire engine used to park at.</div><div align="justify"><br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Firehouse Hotel" height="640" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48402432116_dc3950f3fc_z.jpg" width="480" /></div><br />
</div><div align="justify">Here's the weird part, a firehouse that was left vacant for nearly 3 decades from being used as an active firehouse got remodeled into a full service 9-rooms boutique hotel on the top level with a restaurant underneath the rooms. I never did reserved a room, but I always want to see what the rooms looks like as many pointed out the rooms are "Instagram worthy", while remains for a staycation for some.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Patio" height="640" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48402572882_9ed9284a96_z.jpg" width="480" /></div><br />
That early evening was a weird event as we were a few doors down from <a href="https://www.rightwaytoeat.com/2017/12/bestia.html">Bestia</a>, but wanted a nightcap and stopped by BonTemps to keep the evening going. Right next door was this firehouse that has their own valet. Curiously, we all wanted to see commotion as we all thought it was an event space that is being used for parties.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Private Room" height="640" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48402430011_56cbb8be76_z.jpg" width="480" /></div><br />
Checking out the cool vibes of their patio seating for that intimate setting or their private dining room in the courtyard gave the place this elegant and very chic look. There were plenty of outdoor tables and a few indoor seatings next to the bar as it looked to accommodate about a good sized capacity of about 100 guests for dining.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Beef Carpaccio" height="540" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48468691817_217b142d97_z.jpg" width="540" /><br />
<b><span style="font-size: x-small;">Beef Carpaccio</span></b></div><br />
With a few things in mind, some of us decided to come back to this restaurant to check out the New American dishes on the menu. We have heard the head chef was very distinguished and was from well known restaurants in New York and worked briefly in the much hyped Nomad Hotel in LA. The most exciting thing about our visit was to check out this reimagined decor of a restaurant from a former firehouse.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Grilled Branzino" height="540" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48468687942_302c93506c_z.jpg" width="540" /><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><b>Grilled Branzino</b></span></div><br />
One of the more recommended dish we wanted to try based on the praises posted on various online sites was the Grilled Branzino that was highly mentioned. Love the dishes we had ordered, especially the grilled branzino. The interesting part we noticed was that there was a wood fired grill employed in the kitchen as you can get some of the aroma of the dishes. Some of the buttery dishes really stood out when it was off the grill and ready to be served to the diners.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Cheesecake" height="540" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48468541836_bb814f8a1c_z.jpg" width="540" /></div><br />
Quite possibly, this boutique hotel can be used a stand in for a high fashion clothing store as the hotel lobby stationed in front of the restaurant and hotel check-in gave it that chic nuance look to the fashion dissonance.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Untitled" height="640" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48468541421_79102937d7_z.jpg" width="480" /></div><br />
There are a lot of things to like about FireHouse Hotel. It can be a classy night out on the town or a very nice date night atmosphere for suggested place for an unique dining experience.<br />

For me, I still want to visit the hotel for that overnight staycation.<br />

Alta, the original place in San Francisco was a popular group of American style casual restaurants that served some of the "creative" dishes of the locales with some inventive craft cocktails. There were a few outposts of those restaurants that mainly capitalized on the seafood in that region (Oakland & SF). </div><div align="justify"><br />

<div align="justify">When they decided to open an Alta restaurant down in southern California, I was somewhat skeptical because of the fact it's more inland and away from the beach area cities. Then a curve ball was thrown in when they decided to have a more soul food based cuisines and hired one of the more accomplished Chef in Keith Corbin (worked in several Michellin's stars restaurants) to hone a more southern food type concept on the menu.</div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">It was interesting that it opened towards the Baldwin Hills area, that is nearby to Culver City. With the swanky looking bar that served crafted cocktails, it fits the mantra of other Alta restaurants that are described. I noticed the restaurant also gather the locals who are looking for that cool night out on the town. With this kind of concept, it does need the support of the fan base who enjoyed this type of comfort food and was happy to see it can find the audience who are willing to travel.</div><div align="justify"><br />

When I decided to go get the Shrimp & Grits, I instantly was smitten by creamy and rich texture of this grinded cornmeal that turns out to a great dinner. When I was growing up I was thinking this would be perfect for breakfast (thinking of congee).<br />

</div>When I was thinking of southern fried chicken, the Colonel ruined it for me with their extra crispy version. To my joy, the Alta's version is not heavily battered and the chicken skin was fried to taste like it should. The seasonings and spices were the key of essential ingredients of having the flavors of the chicken be enhanced.<br />

Besides the cocktails, the other must ordered items were the Black Eyed Peas Fritters many have raved about. The cornbread was the one that I missed out on, but I was heavily influenced on must getting that Shrimps & Grits, that I totally forgot to order this.<br />
<br />
This casual (but in a way classy) is perfect for a night out on the town. Love the chef's take on some of these classic comfort food. With so many options in this part of town for southern food, this was a delightful eye opener for me to come into this part of town (after being told it's revitalized to have more hip options).<br />

<div align="justify">New York Pizzeria has always been my goal to visit. In New York of course.</div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">The unfortunate part of my life was that I got to DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) region in the east coast, but never made it up north to partake on some of the legendary status the pizza in new york are known for.</div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">Something to tell me that things are about to be changed in Culver City.</div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">There was an interesting shopping & dining enclave called The Platform that opened up not too long ago. This unique plaza that sits in front of a cul-de-sac on both of this dead end street, not far from Downtown Culver City where all of the happening places are at. When the Platform was opened up, there were quite a few upscale eateries and a renown boba joint ushered in this opening.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Bee's Sting" height="427" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/7832/32567988757_d5abafbf88_z.jpg" width="580" /><br />
<b><span style="font-size: x-small;">Bee's Sting</span></b></div><br />
Then a series of events leads to a closing of one of their fine establishment which sits empty for a short time being. In a twist that no one see coming, a popular Brooklyn pizzeria decided to do a few pop-ups (limited dining engagements) in that empty space on a prime location of that said plaza.<br />
<br />
That restaurant is the ever popular Roberta's.<br />
<br />
Roberta's is often associated by many east coast transplant for their take on the classic pizzas on the Wood Fire oven. There are plenty of pastas and wood fired vegetables that are assembled in the menu, but it's their classic stables of pizza that they are known for.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Crispy Glover" height="427" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/7918/32567987167_dc2398b39f_z.jpg" width="580" /><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><b>Crispy Glover</b></span></div><br />
After a few test runs that often garnered adulation, many still think it was short lived as there was no news of a tenant filling in for that desired spot that is in the middle of the action. So it came as a surprised that Roberta's decided to make a permanent stay after the pop-ups for that location.<br />
<br />
The spot has a beautiful patio set that looking in a newly modeled the courtyard by the middle of that plaza. In a stunning development, they retain some of the chic decor, where their Brooklyn counterpart was more rustic and homely feel. In a cute plot, they have a make shift take out counter by the side of the building (it has since been discarded).<br />
<br />
The most well known pizza was their honey infused with the soppressata toppings that is aptly called the Bee Sting. There was also many pop culture referenced named pizza that seemed to rotate pies named after some of the most pseudo celebrities you'll heard of. I even got one named after Marty McFly's dad.<br />
<br />
For me, I finally get to experience a dough that everyone has been talking about. Some people do not like the char, but this black mark gives character to a pizza. It does make a different coming from wood fire pizza oven versus the deck oven you often see in your local pizzeria. Also for variety of different meat and cheese you get to try on their boards. This would give you an idea on the pizza would be like with those ingredients commingled with the dough.<br />
<br />
For me, I definitely would get the Bee's Sting of mozzarella, chili, basil, tomato, and the aforementioned Honey and Soppressata. That pizza still resonates with me as of this day. I think they rotate the ingredients and come up with clever name for the week for the pop cultural referenced pizzas. If there's one that interests me, I might go for it if they have Red Hot Chili Pepper-oni.<br />
<br />
I know I know... knowing my luck, they'll jack that from me.<br />

I was in a rush one night to get to this mini style cafe on one of the "newest" and "happening" plaza in southern California. There seemed to be a grass root campaign in opening up a trendy hub center for dining and shopping center that can generate buzz for the youngsters here. Yup folks, the mall is the blase of the 80s and we're living in the new Millennium.<br />
<br />
In what was a overlooked decision on my research, I also didn't know that the hub center also holds a hip market/food stalls gathering where those Millennial would congregate every Sunday. That plaza is fabulous called ROW DTLA, a terminal market back in the old days with wholesale factory warehouses in walking distance close to each other. The Manufactory building is now a converted restaurant row while other parts of the factory warehouses become boutique stores, gentrified coffee houses and remodeled restaurants.<br />
<br />
The wholesale farm market is now a weekly Sunday Foodies meet-up as new colorful, unique food are served on these food stalls.<br />
<br />
So, what does it have to do with me getting lost? Well....google Map couldn't keep up the new happenings as the fences and walls are build up, while the neighboring warehouses bordered up the road with their mangy iron clad gates that used to connect to my destination.<br />
<br />
Oh joy!<br />
<br />
When I got there, I was assuming the place I wanted to visit would be closed up because I arrived a good 5 minutes after the reported closing time. To my astonishment, they pretty much welcomed me in on that frenzy Sunday. You can guessed I was in a much better mood to check out on parts of this cafe with picnic benches.<br />

Pikunico have a modern look of a chic style cafe that serves Japanese Fried Chicken. They have a long communal table that is affectionately known as "The Bench". What I craved the most was their talked about "Golden Chicken Sandwich". When I was in a disparaged mode of trying to get into ROW DTLA, all my thoughts was on that sandwich. It was the only thing that was keeping me from falling apart in getting around the dead end streets.<br />

<b><span style="font-size: x-small;">Golden Chicken Sandwich</span></b></div>
<br />
The lady that took my order was a cheery fella that was patient and more than happy to serve. She could have played it off as though they were closed. I probably would have been bummed, but I would have understand. To make one of their last order easier, I got the order of Chicken Sandwich and a mix tray of chicken as a takeout to go.<br />
<br />
<div align="center">
<img alt="IMG_4197" height="427" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/7870/32611136527_342deeac1d_z.jpg" width="580" /><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><b>Mix Chicken</b> of Wing, Thigh, and Tenders with <b>Origni Rice</b></span></div>
<br />
Let me just say that after tasting all of the chicken, I was ecstatic. One, I was pleasantly surprised by the evenly distributed of the breading in the fried chicken. My sandwich itself has one of the most unique turmeric bun that is filled with watercress, jalapeno, and a lemon flavored aioli. The part that conquered me over was their miso jam that was smoldered over the chicken. This sandwich not only won me over, but more importantly it made me go back to try something else.<br />
<br />
Part of the weird journey was that I was in a happy mood to go back and try their other side items.<br />
<br />
I decided to get their Chicken Egg Drop Soup. To my memory, they didn't included the diced up chicken bits in the Egg Drop Soup. I think that was a good decision to added on because it makes this bowl of soup more heartier.<br />
<br />
The big ominous surprise that I will say was the onigiri rice. It's their housemade rice ball that seasoned with ginger and garlic that is wrapped with nori seaweed. That to many looks unspectacular, but in this was the best thing to arrive to my mouth in a while. It doesn't contained spam or meat, yet I was extremely in peace after chomping on those two onigiri rice balls.<br />
<br />
The lady that took my order on my ill-fated trip to ROW DTLA? That was the creative chef Kuniko Yagi. Once I found out she was the executive chef at SONA, I knew there was a reason why I wanted to make that trip to this Fried Chicken cafe in the first place.<br />
<br />
Truth to be told, I think I was searching up Japanese Fried Chicken and internet kept pointing me to that chain in Sawtelle Blvd in West LA. I was glad to be pointed here instead.<br />
<br />
If that fateful trip didn't turned out well, I probably would missed out on the terrific Golden Chicken Sandwich. Worse... I wouldn't have discovered their onigiri rice.<br />
<br />
My pro tip, ordered their chicken tray and skipped the fries by getting the onigiri rice. That would be winner winner chicken dinner any time. Pff...I can't believed that phrase was typed.<br />

<div align="justify">I'm ready for the new Star Wars ride at Disneyland Park coming soon in a few month.</div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">I heard the Star Wars Galaxy Edge ride will be phenomenal with the state of the art effects and plenty of excitement that will satisfied everyone in the whole family. Just like that... so are about 200,000 people expected to come to the amusement park and wanting to get on that ride. Just like that a reservation system is on hand as you might need to be on a waiting list of over 10 hours just to get in line for that ride.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Untitled" height="640" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7874/46903673701_2d387c5e91_z.jpg" width="480" /></div><br />
Fear not folks, I got plenty of practice waiting in line this year. Good ol' Howlin' Ray's provides plenty of training for that long wait.<br />
<br />
If you have not have heard of Howlin' Ray's, then you probably didn't have a pulse with LA food scenes or just hidden under the rock the past 3 years. Don't worry, you'll have plenty of time to catch up once you see the line to buy one of their famous Nashville hot chicken.<br />
<br />
I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Johnny Ray Zone when he first opened up his brick and mortar front after his sting of sling his chicken at his food truck. Funny part of the story was that he opened up this front in a plaza at Chinatown that was more known for souvenirs and imported Chinese goods. In the front of that Far East Plaza was abundance of Chinese BBQ takeouts and other Cantonese restaurants.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Medium" height="427" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7810/33011944138_65c60f97f5_z.jpg" width="580" /></div><div align="center"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Medium Chicken</span></div><br />
Time have changed obviously as there are more hip openings from a coffee shop (MIA), ice cream stand, a bao place from an east coast transplant, hip Taiwanese joint catered to the westerners, and an upscale version of Filipino restaurant all have opened up around the same time as Howlin' Ray's.<br />
<br />
After seeing the restaurant gain popularity from local media and social media presence, the place blew up with long lines from young and old seeking this Nashville Hot chicken people have often heard, but never able to experience it unless you travel farther east. Surprised no one ever caught on to that as there are many options of different fried chickens in southern California, but never this variety. Nowadays, you can't turned around without some announcements of a new Nashville style hot chicken being offered up.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="sandwiches" height="427" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7849/46887328601_53ea90d8ca_z.jpg" width="580" /></div><div align="center"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Medium (level 3) and Mild (Level 2) Chicken Sandwiches</span></div><br />
What makes this place that popular for a long line? I guess it all starts with the chicken. There six different spice levels you can choose. I often settled between Mild (#2 on the hot scale) or Medium (a step up from Mild). You can go on a dare and try their Howlin', which was taste numbing, sweat inducing, and nosebleed crotch of a hot heat.<br />
<br />
The smell of this heat can already make your eyes watery. Just by touching it will already leave that smell on your hand for hours. The nosebleed is not exaggeration for some of us as we are never able to muster through the whole breast or leg without feeling sniffle and the cries of mercy. Not sure it's pain or tears of joy, as eating Howlin' level can be both at the same time.<br />
<br />
The thing I admired about the chicken and why I was waiting in line every quarterly was the fact the meat was juicy and the crispy skin was not flaking like a weak butter skin. I hated the water down skin you see from a certain well known chain. The meat was important, but the battered fried skin was one of the few things I enjoyed about Howlin' Ray's version of fried chicken.<br />
<br />
When I first started coming here, the line was probably less than 20 minutes. Gradually as the words of mouth got out, it expands to 40 somewhat minutes. Then you know it got serious when it is over a hour. Then for some eff'd up reason, it now gets ridiculous at weeknight for 100 minutes. (I had been told the line can be 4 hours on weekend afternoon at times).<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Whole Bird Medium" height="427" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7857/46887327091_e7dfb0de2a_z.jpg" width="580" /></div><div align="center"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Whole Bird - Medium</span></div><br />
For those might be getting discouraged, we heard expansion is coming. When there is more places opened up, dividing up the crowd to various different joints work. It is often a line killer. Remembered the first "Salt & Straw" opened up and there was a wait? With more locations, it destroyed that long wait. We are hoping this would be case as well for another Howlin' Ray's joint.<br />
<br />
For me, I'm getting the hang of waiting in line and practicing in advance of the new Star Wars ride. Pro tips on waiting in line, get a few friends to wait with you. There is never a dull moment and the excitement can be heightened.<br />
<br />
After waiting more than a hour, I still have favorable impression of the fried chicken.<br />
<br />
Now as in for that wait for one ride...... let's hope it doesn't take up the whole day for one ride.<br />

</div><div align="justify">Luckily for today, I decided to make some trips down to downtown LA. I think was doing some weird errands and was planning to check out a restaurant nearby (Orsa & Winstons perhaps?). Then on a peak of my eyes, I saw a small take out place with a few tables in an arcade mall. </div><div align="justify"><br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Soy Sauce Chicken" height="427" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7839/47333853191_59b5eb8e94_z.jpg" width="580" /></div><div align="center"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Soy Sauce Chicken with Fried Egg</span></div><br />
</div><div align="justify">RiceBox is similar to what you find on a Cantonese BBQ place that serves a bevy of different meat proteins that prepares in Cantonese roasted style. Probably the most famous is the Char Siu, where the pork or any meat is roasted on a long fork over a fire oven. There is also ingredient of sauce embedded on the meat to give that succulent taste and flavor.<br />
<br />
While I was looking over the menu, I also happened to stumble upon the soy sauce chicken with bok choy that it was offered. Adding a fried egg on top seemed to be a bit bougie, but without a tea egg or hard boiled, I thought it would be suffice.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="IMG_3873" height="427" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7862/46415354695_38a1e4e3cb_z.jpg" width="580" /></div><div align="center"><span style="font-size: x-small;">OG Char Siu Pork with Fried Egg</span></div><br />
While I was there, I might as well get their version of the "OG Char Siu Pork", which I gathered was honey glazed with the aroma of sweet smell from the slow cooked method.<br />
<br />
Now of course, what makes me wanting to go to this nondescript place in middle of downtown for Chinese food? The place have a cute little tables set up for dine-in, but with a tight place like this, it probably managed a dozen people for the capacity. I highly support a place like this instead of glorified take out place that doesn't do justice.<br />
<br />
For me, I had a good impression on a take on Cantonese BBQ in the middle of an area that seemed bustling with hip taco joints and divey bar actions. This bougie Chinese bento is a welcome sight. In a perfect world, this would be my kind of Chinese take out or delivery places. Love how they prep and present the rice bowl of either the succulent char siu pork or the soy sauce chicken.<br />
<br />
Be prepared though to find parking. This place is great for that take out meals if you live around that area, but rough for destination travel meal. Hope they decide to open late for that late night snoosh after the last call.<br />
<br />
That to me would be perfect.<br />

One of the few things I am always excited about in finding new places is that... you never know what hits you until it happens.</div>
<div align="justify">
<br /></div>
<div align="justify">
Take a case in point with Monty's Good Burger. I was on my way to have a few drinks and bites at <a href="https://www.rightwaytoeat.com/2018/08/heres-looking-at-you.html" target="_blank">Here's Looking At You</a> (Congrats on being named on Eater's Top 38 restaurants of 2018). For a bit odd reason, I saw a long line out the door at 6pm on a Saturday night. Of course, I'm looking at all these young fashionable hipsters wannabes and figuring a Black Friday sales was happening. Then I took a good gander and realized they are lining up where Sumo Dog's old mini counter used to be at. It's all for a place called Monty's Good Burger.</div>
<div align="justify">
<br /></div>
<div align="justify">
The line wasn't for their hot dogs as they moved to Santa Monica's <a href="https://www.rightwaytoeat.com/2018/10/gallery-food-hall.html" target="_blank">Gallery Food Hall</a>. What was going on you may asked? Apparently the line is for vegan burger. Go figured right with the appearances of hipsters and young millennials. </div>
<div align="justify">
<br />
<div align="center">
<img alt="Untitled" height="640" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4879/45340671354_2798111bcc_z.jpg" width="480" /><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;">Sorry for the grain as it was taken at midnight</span></div>
<br /></div>
<div align="justify">
Fast forward in about... 5 and a half hours later? There is still a line for this. In a true sense of being so LA, I decided to google and Yelp Monty's Good Burger up to get an idea what I'm dealing with. Apparently it got raves from several publications that I ceased to trust and a few knowledgeable writers I followed from a distance. All of whom are raving about their the "veggie burger that bleeds".<br />
<br />
I just stood in line because of what?... bored on Saturday night? Needing something to soak up the drinks I just had at Here's Looking At You? Worst yet? Just want to figure it out if the hype is real or I'm missing out 5 months too late.<br />
<br />
Oh yeah, I also wanted to meet the mascot, Monty, the white Schnoodle that is on the logo. Don't laugh, but there were people actually wanted to take selfies with that celeb doggo and I'm one of the few that gets to pet him and also shooting the breeze with of the handlers who was patrolling and controlling the line.<br />
<br />
<div align="center">
<img alt="Untitled" height="420" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4903/44248961450_498909cf62_z.jpg" width="580" /></div>
<br />
When it was my turn to order, I noticed a few things that stuck out to me. One was the simplicity of the menu to either a single patty or double patties. The components can be subtracted from the usual lettuce, tomato, vegan cheese, grilled onion, or their special thousand island sauce. If it screams out In-Out-Burgers to you, then you're not alone. A kale salad, Fries, and Tots are the other main items you can ordered besides the two burgers.<br />
<br />
Treated with care, would vegan burgers like this makes me wanting to order more? What's the verdict? Here's the funny part? If you put a blind test on me, I couldn't tell the difference between this plant based patty with the meat patties. More to the succinct point, this incarnation can be juicy as well. Way better than the tofu burger you're accustomed to.<br />
<br />
If you are into the Mission Impossible Burgers, then the grilled burgers from Monty will suits your need. One thing I crave for is the buns they used. Everything here is locally sourced and they are not cutting corners to bring out the best in what they are serving. Including an eco-friendly bottled water "Just Water" branded by Jaden Smith. Pretty much that speaks volumes to me... in a subtle green friendly way.<br />
<br />
Initially, I was bummed out that Sumo Dog moved to the westside, but with a fresh blue coat of paint and a logo of Monty plastered on the wall, it seemed like nothing changed. Without a missing beat, I would gladly get a single or double from Monty's.<br />
<br />
A great find all because of yours truly not wanting to pay for valet parking and walk a distance to discover place on the way to dinner!<br />

How come I don't do ten places to eat pizza?</div>
<div align="justify">
<br /></div>
<div align="justify">
Was there not enough places? I think it's super hard for some reasons because of lack of creativity and the ingredients of the dough are always being short changed. Dough is an essence of what makes pizza taste good. The flavors of the pizza and sauce/cheese base is quintessential with the toppings being the extra icing on top of that pie.</div>
<div align="justify">
<br /></div>
<div align="justify">
Luckily for me since I was back writing a few places for this blog, Italian cuisine have seen a renaissance in this vast diverse region of the country. In the past, people don't associated LA or Orange County as Italian epic center, but a lot has changed as more and more transplant from other cities bring their roots here and other chefs trained in oversea have come back to share their love of a good pizza.</div>
<div align="justify">

Ten places in Los Angeles for many people to visit for the some of the best pizza you'll experienced.</div>

<br /></div>
<div align="justify">
Many people have shortchanged the idea in that a burnt on the crust is always bad. I think it add flavors to the component and a great look for outer edge. Gjelina is a uber chic hotspot in the burgeoning street of Abbot Kinney Blvd in Venice. The restaurant was ridiculous packed for weekend lunch and every day dinner. If there's a specialty, it gotta be their toasts for brunch.<br />
<br />
Don't sleep on their pizza though. They have some of the best pizza in town.<br />
<br />
<b>Bestia</b><br />
2121 E 7th Place<br />
Los Angeles, CA 90021<br />

<span style="font-size: x-small;"><b>Buratta Pizza</b> - (<span style="text-align: justify;">san marzano tomatoes, castelvetrano olives, oregano, fermented chilies)</span></span></div>
<br />
Did we really have to go into on why this place is on the list? Very often or not, this place was considered to be the Crème de la Crème of all sit down restaurants in all of southland. Forget about getting a reservation for the weekend as you might need to book a month in advance. There are many reasons for the get up such as the pasta dish of Pici al Sugo di Agnello or the famed roasted bone marrow. The steaks are fine too. <a href="https://www.rightwaytoeat.com/2017/12/bestia.html" target="_blank">Bestia</a> has everything Italian you want.<br />
<br />
It's their burrata pizza selections that will get you to the door or out the door. Their pizza is a must and probably will make you order one to take out as well. Go with the san marzano tomatoes, castelvetrano olives, oregano, fermented chilies variety of burrata pizza. You won't regret that.<br />

<br />
They made a quick epic return from the recent post. It goes without saying they have the best selection of unique toppings and hard to find ingredients on their pizza. Try out the Roman Gladiator pizza above and you won't regret it. For anyone who needs a refresher, please check out the review here to get an idea on what I would order at <a href="https://www.rightwaytoeat.com/2018/11/jon-and-vinnys.html" target="_blank">Jon and Vinny's</a>.<br />

<b><span style="font-size: x-small;">Duck Egg Pie</span></b></div>
<br />
When I decided to restart my little blog again, one of the first destination I hit up based on recommendations of famous restaurant critics in town, Love and Salt was the choice. Give you a quick rundown in that it's on a revitalized main street of Manhattan Beach where busy high class residents are mostly congregated at.<br />
<br />
You probably can sneaked them some generic Italian cuisine and called it fine dining. This place however stood out from the rest and it's a godsend. They have many classic dishes to try, but for pizza, you gotta go with Duck Egg Pie. Check my review of <a href="https://www.rightwaytoeat.com/2018/01/love-salt.html" target="_blank">Love And Salt</a> for details of other dishes to try.<br />
<br />
<br />
<b>Cosa Buona</b><br />

Los Angeles, CA 90026<br />
<br />
<div align="center">

<span style="font-size: x-small;"><b>White Clam Pizza</b></span></div>
<br />
One of these days, I will get around to do a decent post on this place. It blows my mind that this place doesn't get the talk for pizza, but for the pastas. To give you a weird rundown, Cosa Buona replaces another pizza joint. Weirdly in that a lot of people do walked up to this place and thinking it's a casual take out like the former place. Alas, they found out it's a much elevated Italian place complete with other pasta dishes that are to die for.<br />
<br />
My first option was the pineapple pizza everyone was raving about on Yelp, but wound up having a much better bite with a white clam. Oh, noticed the black marks on the crust end? Yes, you know it's pretty when that happens. My only advice for the next pizza place.. take over a Thai restaurant. Will have no confusion unless it's serving Thai curry pizza.<br />
<br />
<br />
<b>Tony's Little Italy Pizza</b><br />
1808 N Placentia Ave B <br />
Placentia, CA 92870<br />
<br />
<div align="center">
<img alt="Tony's Little Italy Pizza" height="580" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4607/27844388889_f5ff44e60a_z.jpg" width="580" /><br />
<b><span style="font-size: x-small;">Supreme Deep Dish</span></b></div>
<br />
There are some options for great deep dish in this region finally. Lucky for some of us, there are transplants from the midwest that are showing us these stuffed pizza in a pan that will galvanized us into craziness with the topping between the crust and cover in cheese like an average pie. Having this creation bestowed upon us, I must admit it will set everyone back in the calories count for the next week for just one meal.<br />
<br />
My favorite among all of the recent explosion of deep dish pizza comes in the courtesy of Tony's Little Italy Pizza, located in the far east region of the map. Closer to Riverside than to LA. Worth the trek as their crust was flaky like pie crust with deep sauce and cheese covering up the meaty components like a shepherd's pie. The best Chicago's style deep dish from a true Chicagoan.<br />
<br />
<b><a href="https://www.superfinepizza.com/" style="color: #d52a33;">Superfine Pizza</a></b><br />
1101 San Pedro St Unit F<br />
Los Angeles, CA 90015<br />
<br />
<div align="center">
<img alt="Superfine Pizza" height="400" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1924/43350984890_326c2ce030_z.jpg" width="580" /><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><b>Salami Honey Pizza</b></span></div>
<br />
Recent discoveries let me to this take out window that serves a pizza that LA should call one of its own. It seemed our beloved city has taking a liking to spicy honey flavored pizza. There's one other place I know that would served such a type pizza, but you have to go to Orange county for this venture. Stick with <a href="https://www.rightwaytoeat.com/2018/10/superfine-pizza.html" target="_blank">Superfine Pizza</a> .<br />
<br />
Two things you want to know. One, to get you excited, this place has the same masterminds behind the hit restaurants <a href="https://www.rightwaytoeat.com/2017/12/rossoblu.html" target="_blank">Rossoblu</a> and Sotto. So you know they take Italian cuisine very seriously. Especially on how they treat the dough. Second, digital payment only. Meaning you are going to need the plastics. No paper currency accepted. It's worth getting that spicy honey pizza!<br />
<br />
<b>Olio Wood Fired Pizzeria</b><br />
(Inside of Grand Central Market)<br />
317 S. Broadway<br />
Los Angeles, CA 90013<br />
<br />
<div align="center">

<br />
If there is a fast pizza place I would hit up, it would be <a href="https://www.rightwaytoeat.com/2018/02/olio.html" target="_blank">Olio Wood Fire Pizzeria</a> in the Grand Central market. The basic component of the pizza involves the ready to use dough and cheese ready to fire with the proteins you wanted to add. My favorite to order are the Wild Mushroom & Speck and the Margherita Plus. Those two are easy to order and way faster than your normal delivery places.<br />
<br />
Pro tip: Get the Agua Frescas next door to this food stall.<br />
<br />

<b>Chicago's Pizza With A Twist</b><br />

<b><span style="font-size: x-small;">Chicken Tikka Pizza</span></b></div>
<br />
I don't think I have stopped raving about this chain. Maybe I'll stop when the quality goes down, but it's worth noting in that this popular late night hangout for the local teens has bamboozled many in thinking it's a Chicago style deep dish place (read above for Tony's). I have gone in depth about what's Chicago about this pizza joint. I'm still love the twist in <a href="https://www.rightwaytoeat.com/2018/09/chicagos-pizza-with-twist.html" target="_blank">Chicago's Pizza With A Twist</a>.<br />
<br />
The big twist was that it has Indian ingredients meshed with the traditional pizza. My verdict still stands as we speak. Check out the Chicken Tikka pizza.<br />
<br />
<b><a href="http://www.milanasnewyorkpizzeria.com/#menu-section" style="color: #7d181e; text-decoration-line: none;">Milana's New York Pizzeria</a></b><br />

Long Beach, CA 90802<br />
<br />
<div align="center">

<br />
One of the hardest to find pizza in town for me was a grandma style pizza. It's Brooklyn style Sicilian that was promoted in downtown Long Beach that got me there. For this grandma style pizza, it's pretty much similar to deep dish without the stuffing. In this variation, as the name suggested it's Sicilian, meaning it's rectangular shaped. With the tomato sauce being promoted, it's lavished covered the cheese (not the other way around you're so accustomed to).<br />
<br />
You can only get this unique pizza here at <a href="https://www.rightwaytoeat.com/2018/11/milanas.html" target="_blank">Milana's New York Pizzeria</a>.</div>

<div align="justify">
Has anyone ever been to Animal? This is the name of the restaurant that started my journey to the culinary world where I have discovered the finer things in life. I owed a lot to my early experience to the talented duo Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo, who are the masterminds for introducing me to Animal.<br />
<br />
Weirdly enough, it took me much longer time to visit their namesake restaurant, Jon and Vinny's. Located in the burgeoning hip Fairfax district, Jon and Vinny's restaurant was a dedication to all dishes Italian. This is where I have a hard time contemplating in wanting to make a visit.<br />
<br />
Italian restaurants and Fairfax is hard for me to make visits because of parking situation around that part of the town and a few suggested places I can go for Italian nearer to my area (south LA). However, by luck of the stars, I was in the area a few doors down at Sweet Chick and a few cancellation that afforded to me attend.<br />
<br />
<div align="center">
<img alt="Untitled" height="640" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1865/44328901712_7d3820d08a_z.jpg" width="480" /></div>
<br />
I was a huge fan of the real life chefs of Jon and Vinny. I was mesmerized by their presentations and hard charge in utilizing everything on their ingredients at the Animal restaurant, which was skewered towards American fare with a touch of few European influence. With this place, they left no doubt in that this will be purely Italian.<br />
<br />
First, when you walked in, the huge masonry stone oven is right in front of the bar counter at the left hand side of the entrance. You can tell they will be taking their pizza task very seriously. Oh yeah, even getting a seat at the counter or trying to score a table without reservation will be mission imPASTAble. Yes, I am working on my puns in on this article.<br />
<br />
There are 5 restaurants that the duo have involved themselves in that are immensely popular and this place was no exceptions. I chanced on the fact that someone will not showed up. I gladly took a counter seat after a 45 minutes wait when someone didn't showed up for reservation. That person missed out big time in my book.<br />
<br />
What did I wanted when I entered Jon and Vinny's? Get this... meatballs!<br />
<br />
<div align="center">
<img alt="Untitled" height="580" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1857/29441230457_cfae7f0b2e_z.jpg" width="580" /></div>
<br />
I'm sure they will tell me that missing out on their famous pizza will be case, but I just wanted to try their handmade marinara braised beef with the heirloom tomato sauce I had been hearing about. At that weird point of my life, I wasn't going to take things for granted. My gosh, these things were just incredible! With the ricotta sprinkled all over and being complimented with the grilled bread, this was the thing I realized I can't lived without.<br />
<br />
Supposedly I read somewhere the sauce was made with Bianco DiNapoli peeled tomato, which was from the famed pizza maker Chris Bianco. I would say bravo on this choice.<br />
<br />
After dabbling with a few olives and cheese on the menu, I was already satisfied. Within an aroma, something made me with that whiff. I sit so close to stone oven and I can see and smell every pizza being assemble and shove to the take-out boxes. Yes, apparently take outs are the big operation at this tight limited-capacity, popular restaurant. For all those that didn't reserved and can't wait for the table, take outs are the best option.<br />
<br />
<div align="center">
<img alt="Untitled" height="580" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1879/29441230977_e5127f6a70_z.jpg" width="580" /><br />
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: , "blinkmacsystemfont" , "segoe ui" , "roboto" , "helvetica" , "arial" , sans-serif; text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Roman Gladiator (Bacon, Italian Sausage, Pepperoni, and Ham)</span></span></div>
<br />
Yours truly here decided that giving in to temptations are the benefits to let the readers know whether or not the pizza also lived up to enormous expectation. Without a shadow of doubt, I can't believe that I believed in no carbs diet. This is worth the cheat meal I have been saving up for. Everyone will know that I believe the crust is the important element on any pizza. The charred on the edge of the round crust was phenomenal. For some, it looked burned, but I say the char add more flavor to crust.<br />
<br />
The Roman Gladiator pizza with every conceivable meat toppings (Bacon, Italian sausage, pepperoni and ham) was a meatlover's dream. With the crust, this pizza from Jon and Vinny's is now one of my favorite pizza in town along with Spicy Salami Honey pizza.<br />
<br />
The return trip to Jon and Vinny's will have to include some pasta dishes next time. If there is anything you must go for Jon and Vinny's is their meatballs. Seriously, that's something cannot be missed.<br />
<br />
As in for the guy who decided not to show up for his reservation... a huge thanks from me!</div>

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><div align="justify">There is one thing in LA I have a hard time finding.</div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">Apparently, Sicilian pizza in square form is almost non-existent, but what's harder to find? Grandma style Pie pizza. Nooooo, not talking about Little Caesar's pizza or some thick deep dish, but a square form that is considered Grandma's style, which is more simplistic, but yet not too many places would carried it.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Front Entrance" height="580" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4849/43892853430_7b90d0eb92_z.jpg" width="580" /></div><br />
Think of a pan style pizza with thin layer of cheese on top of bucko layers of tomato sauce, where the crust would become crispy around the edge. Instead of thick stuff style pizza, it's more of thin layer with crust being more flat layered with the huge amount of sauce over the cheese.</div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">I think a lot of people are familiar with Pizza Hut's pan style pizza where the pizza pie would be cook in a pan and the outer crust would be baked to crispy style oily perfection. Think of Grandma's style pizza of that nature, but with olive oil on the crust with the pie being tomato-ized with the sauce.</div><div align="justify"><br />
<div align="center"><img alt="IMG_2580" height="427" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4913/43891751080_586915bdf9_z.jpg" width="580" /></div></div><br />
<div align="justify">Milana's New York Pizzeria was the one restaurant I can find in Los Angeles area that served that kind of pizza... Brooklyn style Sicilian. Being frank, most people associated with thin crust with new york pizza. You can pretty much guessed the conflict of people surmising that Sicilian pizza is pan style thick, but also getting New York pizza crust to be thin.</div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">Can it be a combustible mix? Believe it or not, This type of pizza is a rarity in this part, but very cherished.</div><div align="justify"><br />
<div align="center"><img alt="IMG_2600" height="427" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1926/45658774882_a362287490_z.jpg" width="580" /></div><br />
</div><div align="justify">Let's break it down a bit, Sicilian pizza's dough will be riser and thick. Whereas in the Brooklyn style Sicilian, it's a grandma pie where this is coated with olive oil in the pan to make the dough soft and chewy. You can see the dough for yourself on how thick it was. For some, it looks thin slice, but was very deliberately crispy and not a riser as some expected like a midwest style Sicilian pizza (square or rectangle) based on the preference.<br />
<br />
Based on Bon Apetite, apparently Grandma Pie such as this thin style Sicilian is getting more popular in the east coast, so that's why I was hankering to find any place that would carried it. Hard to find such an unique style pizza out here on the west coast unless a transplant can bring it over. As you can guess, Milina from New York is bringing it over.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="IMG_2578" height="427" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1974/30769000917_1cf7c96e42_z.jpg" width="580" /></div><br />
Oh, what else is impressive in this non-descript shop along 4th street in downtown Long Beach that would make me come back for more? It's their bread sticks! No kidding on that one. With their marina sauce, this was divine. Love the soft chewy texture over the hard thick ones you get from the other bakeshop that offered these. You will love it baked out of the oven where the breakdown on these sticks are just like breaking open a muffin.<br />
<br />
Great to have something like this exist. You can have always have a grandma to bake a pizza like this for you, but it's always great to find a place that does make this type of pizza.<br />

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><div align="justify">I had an eventful night in good south of Beverly Hill.</div><div align="justify"><br />
Usually, avoiding the glitzy, shopping area of this part of the town was a must. Imagine if you will, there is a more upscale, posh part of the town that attracts big spenders to those high end boutique shops you have seen in the movie "Pretty Woman" and "Beverly Hill Cops". Going two blocks south, you'll get more of the intimate restaurants without the cost gouging.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="IMG_1208" height="427" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1771/29134979097_d056df4b00_z.jpg" width="580" /><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;">Seafood Board</span></div><br />
Harissa is an hybrid Tunisian and French restaurant that is in the heart of the less intimidating area of Pico Blvd, that is more for the humble crowd. The restaurant started by Alain Cohen was an addition to the space next to his Kosher deli aptly named "Got Kosher".<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Untitled" height="427" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1909/44088015955_58fef02d5f_z.jpg" width="580" /><br />
Charcuterie Board</div><br />
A select group of influential "influencers" and I got invited to attend a diner hosted Mr. Cohen in his Tunisian influenced Kosher restaurant. It was delight to see Alain go in depth about his upbringings and family background that inspired into opening up a deli. In no time, it also led him to open up his very own restaurant after Alain tried every hands in every possible positions in restaurant world to understand the inner workings to operate an establishment.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Untitled" height="428" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1893/44141161152_31af42d608_z.jpg" width="580" /><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;">Alain's Tuna Sandwich</span></div><br />
I researched it where Mr. Cohen decided to go all in by transferring to a restaurant from a casual Kosher cafe where he offers the upmost Jewish cuisine of Shabbat provisions with anything from challahs to vegan dishes that holds to the Jewish traditions. By transferring to a full fledged restaurant, it opened up more room to accommodate diners with tables and a patio seating just outside of the space.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Untitled" height="427" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1960/44088015435_0c36bce096_z.jpg" width="580" /></div><br />
This happening dinner hosted by our esteemed host Alain, where he regaled us with his upbringing in France where the influences of some of the dishes can be shown through, with the Tunisian fare that dazzled in display. First came the epic Seafood board that consists of gravlax with bouhka and salmon terrine. That itself would be highlight if we didn't get more to come. Learned from Alain on that some of the importing of these exquisite item like gravlax can be hefty. So worth savoring for.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="IMG_1277" height="427" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1794/43358545824_ba39922942_z.jpg" width="580" /><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;">Lemon Raisin Chicken Couscous</span></div><br />
Next up are the charcuterie board. This highlighted some of beef prosciutto, lamb pancetta, and chicken pate with cognac. The two most defined North African dish of Tunisa I was about to experience came right after the boards. The Alain's Tuna Sandwich and the Lemon Raisin Chicken Couscous.<br />
<br />
First off on the couscous, this would be my 2nd time ever in experienced this unique small steamed balls of semolina. I know, I am ashamed in admitting that fact. Fortunately, Harissa can right this wrong by showing us their version of this timeless North African dish with cauliflower version of couscous. My other experience was from an Algerian restaurant who showcased this dish.<br />
<br />
The tuna sandwich named after our host/owner was bundled with hard boiled egg in a bun flavored with mechouia and hot chili paste of Harissa (now you know restaurant was name after the popular chili paste of Tunisa).<br />
<br />
This unforgettable meal sets off all sorts of possibilities of what Tunisian fare can be and we also were informed of what it takes for the meal needing to be Kosher. Yes, this restaurant obviously observes the requirement of Jewish dietary regulations.<br />
<br />
If you ever hit up Beverly Hills, forget the glitz on the northend, and hit up south for a memorable humble meal of this spectacular cuisine. More importantly, it's Kosher!<br />

<span style="font-size: x-small;">The famed Rostierrie Chicken with SpinachTallarin with Basil Sauce and Cheese</span></div><br />
</div><div align="justify">First, I pursue some of the items on the menu where I was curious about the ingredients on the dishes. Especially the potato being a popular ingredients on both the apps and the mains. Pasta is also another item reign supreme in the menu as well. I especially love their version of the tallarin (think spaghetti, but in this case spinach spaghetti with basil sauce!).<br />
<br />
Crazier thing is that we all need to try the Causa Rellena, which is like a whipped potato puree with a shredded chicken in the middle. This is a sight to be hold when it was presented.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Untitled" height="640" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1882/44051566994_ea316d3927_z.jpg" width="480" /></div><br />
Their dessert is also another worth checking out. One of the offering was a lucuma flavored ice cream, which the fruit itself is a native of Peru. I could best described the taste like durian minus the smell. For ice cream, it's bearable and worth the experience it is given.<br />
<br />
My plan coming here wasn't to compared authentic Peruvian with Latin fusion food. Far from it. In my pleasant dining experience here, I founded in that even though the owners who dabbled with the artistry of Japanese cuisine in their other location with a few Peruvian dishes in that sushi joint. Having them to decide to invest fully on a separate location to dedicate Peruvian dishes was a great call. With no regrets, I can honestly say this should be an authentic Latin fare everyone can enjoy.<br />
<br />
Just like my deal with <a href="https://www.rightwaytoeat.com/2018/10/urban-cup.html" target="_blank">Urban Cup</a> review, I'm still hoping fusion cuisine thrives in my area.<br />
<br />

This Cajun and Creole hot spot didn't always attracted the crowd that they have right now. I think it was the fact it was trying to cash in on the New Orlean's burbon street atmosphere crazy of the Mardi Gras. Maybe it was the fact a new chef who came in two years and decided to overhaul the concept of this southern comfort food restaurant and make it a dining destination. Why not take advantage of the place having the piazza that oozes comfortable chic vibe. Upscale dining on a fried chicken and corn on the cob with some amazing drinks? You'll be amazed how some of it actually paired up and worked to the right tone. The biscuit that comes with the fried chicken works great with the Old Fashioned I had. Although I think I should have gone with an ice tea at the time.<br />
<br />
The menu consists of everything you would have gladly ordered down at the Louisiana like po boys, grits, cornbread, hush puppies, jambalaya, catfish, and gumbo. It does bring a perspective on how a simple comfort food can be re-imagined. Remembered about my post on Taiwanese food (<a href="https://www.rightwaytoeat.com/2017/12/kato.html" target="_blank">Kato</a>) ?<br />

Thoroughly unexpected as I was trying to imagine a Mardi Gras crowd with the frozen daiquiris, but it's much more of mix of middle aged and younger hipsters. No where near the USC students I was expecting. A classier vibe I guess than a rambunctious chaos of party zone.<br />
<br />
My big take on this over is to try their catfish next time. With all the great cocktails and other southern influenced drinks, it's hard not to come back here for dining. Who knows? Maybe I'll be adventurous and get the frozen daiquiris.<br />

I was both astoundingly fascinated and excited to see how much have changed since my yesteryear's visit here in this hip trendy area of the town. The city still attracts beach goers and world wide tourism, but they still kept much of its bohemian charm in many part of the city.<br />

Sumo Dog was popular among the vendors in the Coachella Music festivals in many years. Now with a new brick and mortar location in Santa Monica's Gallery Food Hall on the popular touristy attraction area, anyone can enjoy the offerings without going to the music festival.<br />
<br />
<div align="center">

<br />
Their big attraction is obviously their hot dogs infused with many of their popular condiments, but also their unique takes of infusing some of the ingredients from Asian influences. Their take on the rice tots (not potato) is a must get if you wanted something new. Their former location was at a Koreatown place along busy stretch of Vermont Avenue I have visited before. This location is much better suited for the clientele and fans they are hoping to attract.<br />
<br />
Oh, one big addition amidst the current time, they are also offering burgers now.</div>

<div align="justify">
One of the offering at Gallery Food Hall on Santa Monica's Third Street Promenade. Strfsh is from Voltaggio Brothers who are Top Chef Winner and Finalists in Season 6. Michael and Bryan Voltaggio are introducing this fast casual fare on the 2nd floor of the Third Street Promenade's newly remodeled food hall. The best ones I got was the Swordfish sandwich and Salmon sandwich.<br />
<br />
I also wanted to point in that these fries that accompanied the fish sandwich combo are probably the ones I would get by itself if needed. Go to the balcony patio tables and enjoyed the view of the happenings on third street. People watching have never gotten this good.<br />
<br />
<b>Sloan's Ice Cream</b> (1st Floor Front)</div>
<br />
<div align="center">

<br />
<div align="justify">
This is one of the best attraction for a dessert place. It's perfectly situated right in the front facing the street. The fact that it automatically attracts the walk-in foot traffic and makes visitors visit other part of the Food Hall will be a benefit to everyone.<br />
<br />
<div align="center">
<img alt="Untitled" height="640" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1924/44168002214_63991cd16a_z.jpg" width="480" /></div>
<br />
Sloan's Ice Cream has other delightful desserts that a whole family can enjoy. It's worth mentioning in that the type of crowd on the first floor tends to give the family atmosphere with their own outdoor veranda. While the 2nd floor has an unique situation where the dining fare tends to skew towards on the sophistication side.</div>
<div align="justify">
<br /></div>
<div align="justify">
Interestingly, there are other future dining options plans to open in The Gallery Food Hall. That also includes a pizza place next to a gourmet taco place I mentioned earlier (Azule Taqueria) and an open space next to Sloan's Ice Cream.<br />
<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">Click "Play" to see the 2nd Floor Patio View</span></div>
<br />
Oh, here's a kicker, the fine dining tasting menu oriented restaurant Dialogue opened by the Alinea alumnus Dave Beran is opened there too. So you can see, this food hall has a bit of everything for anyone who just wants to eat.<br />
<br />
There are just so many options to choose from and many exciting things happening at this particular hub center for dining options. Once it complete the space, this will be the one stop for the dining area for all foodies alike.<br />
<br />
Best part for any tourists from out of town? It's only only 12 minutes walk to the beach and minutes from all shopping stores. Can we say "win win"?</div>

If you ever heard of kimchi taco, oxtail pho, or even Orange Chicken (super popular), then you automatically assumes Asian Fusion. This gets all umbrage started. Why? Perhaps, people like it simple on how they remembered.</div><div align="justify"><br />

</div><div align="justify">One of the cool aspects of visiting behind the Orange curtain, south of Los Angeles, was the fact Asian Fusion dining options have multiplied in recent years. It got to a point where a quota was basically needed for every corner. Kidding...</div><div align="justify"><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="IMG_2243" height="427" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1976/45412774572_99103689be_z.jpg" width="580" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Loaded Fries with Filet Mignon Cubes and Fried Egg</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div></div><div align="justify">The newest of this Asian Fusion establishment is Urban Cup, which situated to the ever growing presence of the newer aspect in Cypress College area, where students have better dining option. This establishment will attracted a few things that college students and residents will love about: options.</div><div align="justify"><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="IMG_2218" height="427" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1928/44550219615_6dd710f136_z.jpg" width="580" /></div><div align="" center=""><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Cauliflower</span></div></div><br />
</div><div align="justify">Think of the poke craze where you choose your protein (from filet mignon cubes, salmon, and ribs) with the choice of sides (garlic rice, noodles, and fries), you get your own customizeable meal. For some of us, this reminds us of combining what we love of our American fare and maybe with the sides of what we love in our Vietnamese cuisine.<br />
<br />
Imagine you can get anything you wanted and customized to your liking, this would be a fantastic fast casual place anyone ever wanted and can enjoy this any time.<br />

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><div align="justify">Is there such a thing as "Los Angeles Pizza"? If other cities gets a distinction, why poor ol' Angelenos down here never gets a special pizza?</div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">Many pizza lovers associated thin fold-able pizza as New York style. If you ever seen pizza stuffed with toppings and cheese in a pan like a shepherd's pie, we automatically assumed it as Chicago's style or Deep Dish, which again associated with that city. Fear not, we might actually have something for the City of Angels.</div><div align="justify"><br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Untitled" height="640" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1958/44509717074_dfb0bc0f81_z.jpg" width="480" /><br />

Those two places already serves some of the finest Italian cuisine, which dazzles many fine dining crowd here. You can bet pizza will be one as well.</div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">If that's the case, why opened up another one in LA? More importantly, foot steps from their critically acclaimed winner Rossoblu? Oh, did I also mentioned in that Superfine is more of a take out window, than a sitdown restaurant?</div><div align="justify"><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/gp/46869143@N00/985E57" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Untitled"><img alt="Untitled" height="640" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1909/45231847701_fe5f53d5c4_z.jpg" width="360" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Press "Play" to check out the courtyard in front of the place</span></div><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
</div><div align="justify">Several observations off that bat on my few visits. I noticed in that you can ordered a few ways. Either an entire 18 inch pie cut into slices or by the slice which average out to $4 each. If you are in big party or have major hunger, the 18 inch would be better deal. If you want to try one of each or just want to take photos of the entire collection, then be my guest on ordering per slice.</div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">Secondly, it's credit card only. Not saying most dining establishments are looking towards electronic payments over cold, hard cash. Based on what I read, it basically protect the place from carrying cash as they do opened towards late of the night. Not surprisingly, they do get the fallouts from people who just left the bars and cocktail lounges nearby. Pizza would be great to soak things up.</div><div align="justify"><br />
<div align="center"><img alt="IMG_2209" height="427" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1954/30226812787_a34e348486_z.jpg" width="580" /><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;">Salami Honey Pizza</span></div><br />
</div><div align="justify">To my initial thought, this place has something to offer that may give a distinction of a LA pizza. Initially Superfine named a combination of buckwheat honey and spicy salami as Spicy Honey Pizza. This pizza's two star attraction ingredients on top of provolone and Grana Padano cheese makes it an absurdly mouthwatering pizza. You have to imagine on how the crust is being appreciated. If you love a Neapolitan style dough, you definitely will love this.<br />
<br />
I have heard they might integrated other style pizzas. My best hunch was that a thinner crust will be easier and faster to churn out if the idea of fold-able pizza is in play for customer who are looking for something simple. So far, the menu are kept in manageable numbers of items with some sides in their repertoire. There are plenty of sodas selections in stock as well for that quench of thirst.<br />
<br />
Several thoughts on opening up a take out joint near there flagship would be the fact that the staff can be interchangeable.. for now. More importantly, I can see them opening something similar to this stand at other venues/food hall. This would be an easy cinch when it catches on.<br />
<br />
Here's one down of this Salami Honey pizza for LA. Spicy Honey is the bet for LA pizza. It may not be a square or fold-able, but it is spicy and sweet that we can't forget.<br />

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><div align="justify">Have you ever had cactus before? Being honest, I never thought the desert plant can be edible. To make it as tacos was quite something else.</div><div align="justify"><br />
<div align="center"><img alt="IMG_2128" height="427" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1971/30172615007_7eea8458f2_z.jpg" width="580" /></div><br />
</div><div align="justify">Santa Monica has evolved in recent years where it used to be a tourists attraction because of the beach along the coast line to mega shopping mecca in the heart of the downtown area. In recent years, it started to make comeback as a culinary destination as it once was back in the late 1990's where some of the finest dining would be settled in this hotbed.<br />
<br />
One of the newest entry to formidable dining scene was a food hall enacted on the busy Third Street Promenade called Gallery Food Hall.</div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify"><b>Azulé Taqueria</b> is the newest venture from an established restaurant group K2, which also introduced StrFsh in the same food plaza. Located on the 2nd floor in the Gallery Food Hall, was this exciting casual fare that introduced us to many gourmet tacos.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="IMG_2148" height="427" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1913/31236812828_fc46a62e27_z.jpg" width="580" /></div><br />
As I promised a grilled Cactus is used as protein for a taco. Fascinating as it sounds, for me I had to get used to the big chunk, as I was never quite sure this plant can be digested. For some reason, the perception was pins on skins. Eventually I got over it and did wound up loving the fantastic flavor.<br />
<br />
The more I pursue the menu, the more I discovered many of the tacos have some elaborated elements to their tacos components that would make a great tapas for some. A fantastic place to grab an elevated casual food and enjoy the atmosphere of a fine surroundings.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="IMG_2155" height="427" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1927/44199186275_cd999df164_z.jpg" width="580" /></div><br />
As you decided to spent time to look around the food hall, you'll discover a great balcony view overlooking the third street promenade. In a way it was a hidden oasis as I discovered not too many people had ventured out this far yet. Great for now, but will be busier once news gets out.<br />
<br />
As I was writing this, <b>Azulé Taqueria </b> are having their promotional sales of Buy one get one free of their tacos until 10/16/2018. It's a great way to try out many of their fine selections.<br />

</div><div align="justify">This sushi location strangely enough would not be in some fancy plaza or some upscale locale, but at a strip mall with a supermarket close by. The only reason I would go on a trek to this suburban abyss was that a few friends' families have a gathering in their million dollar community that is far from the busy streets of inner cities. Good thing brand new homes are popping up in droves on this forgotten desert zone.</div><div align="justify"><br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Sushi Gnocchi" height="480" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1860/43239094495_daf3e5ef2b_z.jpg" width="580" /><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;">The First platter</span></div><br />
</div><div align="justify">The nondescript sushi place may not looked very much on the outside, but incredibly I think the sushi being presented here speaks for itself.</div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">Several things I noticed right off the bat in this place was there are different tiers menu on which type of omakase were being offered. They have several preset meal sets that are somewhat considered a modify omakase. Small scale version if you will, but i decided not to do that and go for the real deal.<br />
<br />
Here is a question I'm sure that will get asked... is the chef a sushi nazi like other famous/well known chefs that are out there in needing to be a control freak? Probably not, when you get a modify omakase as a value meal in the menu. More importantly, probably will not be off putting like certain ones that are out there.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Sushi Gnocchi" height="480" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1879/43239094435_5a4d354bce_z.jpg" width="580" /></div><br />
Second, you'll probably asked is how a traditional omakase works? There are no price set as it is determine by how much you ate and which type of fish that night are being offered. You pretty much handing your wallet over to the chef, but you'll be guaranteed the meal will be served to your absolute satisfaction. Definition of omakase: "I'll leave it to you" (literal translation).<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Sushi Gnocchi" height="480" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1851/43239094405_ea63bb38d2_z.jpg" width="580" /></div><br />
You are getting some well known established sushi (the ones with vinegar rice) and some sashimi (which is no rice) that are on the menu on the a la carte to start off, but then gradually you are moving towards to the fantastic fishes that are not being offered in the standardized menu. It'll commingled back and forth between the established dishes and the hard to get dishes.<br />
<br />
Often times, you got to take that chance and hope the chef really know what he's doing. I'm quite pleased on this being one of my most fond sushi place that I absolutely enjoyed.<br />
<br />
Often times, it's not price that determines the worth or whether or not it validates the proclamation of the best sushi. For this case, I will say Sushi Noguchi is one of the only three places I can totally put my wallet in the chef's hand and know I will not regret at the end.<br />
<br />
I don't even trust my father with that!<br />

San Gabriel is awash with waves of possibilities for dumplings galore. Pretty much every street corner has a dumpling restaurant at their plaza. Kingburg Kitchen is pretty much known for two types of dishes: their jiaozi (pan fried dumplings) and Shen Jiang Bao (pan fried juicy buns). Think of crispy brown bottom and juicy soup on the inside.<br />
<br />
There's something about this little bite size starter perfect for their beef noodle soup as well. It's glorious coming here when you know you can ordered everything from pork to vegetarian version, those will still come out perfect.<br />

<b>Ding's Garden</b><br />

<br />
There are so many version of this place. Too many rumors and innuendos to list here. Pretty much was that there was an original one on Valley Blvd in San Gabriel. After an ugly divorce mess, the business was sold. Then a few pops up in Pasadena, Irvine and here in Rowland Heights. I'll keep this simple in that Rowland Heights location does better on the potstickers variety which is like the jiaozi I posted above.<br />
<br />
Ding's is also known for their cold dish appetizers on the menu and their fabulous beef noodle soup. What sets apart from the other locations of Ding's was their pan fried version of their dumplings. They do wonders on the boiled versions as well.<br />
<br />

<b>Q Noodle House</b><br />

<br />
Short distance walk in the same plaza as Ding's Garden is this very low key Noodle house that serves up some of the best boiled dumplings you can find. The fish dumplings with right amount of vinegar and soy sauce can liven these simple, but yet delicious treats. Don't let the pungent fish smell fool you, it's an absolute delight.<br />
<br />
Q Noodle House is situated in a very popular plaza that includes the best pho place in town (Pho Rowland), Two popular Korean joints (Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong and Sun Nuong Dan), tourist trap of Boiling Crab, an extremely popular Sichuan hot pot (Lameizi) and the previously mentioned Ding's Garden. Be warned: it's crazy traffic jam on Friday nights.<br />

<br />
I wrote about this place in one of my earliest blog post. This place still holds the standard for most dishes for the Shanghai cuisine. It used to be very popular for the locals, but then you know... first the blogs, then the media hype (most notably Jonathan Gold) and now social media from the youngsters. It can get crazy in here with long wait for dinner.<br />
<br />
Their specialty is the juicy soup dumplings we like to call Xiao Long Bao (XLB). Its hint of a sweet taste often gets imitated it by many other competitors around town. However, I would like to showcase their boiled dumplings as that tends to be underrepresented in their establishments.<br />
<br />
This flagship was so successful, it sprang a new shop down the street. In a weird site note, the Mama is run by the daughter, while the mom runs a successful supplier operation of dumplings, xlbs, and other pre-packaged dishes. It gotten so successful, family opened up a new front in south OC called Paper Lantern.<br />
<br />

<br />
For the very longest time, this place rivals Mama's Lu as the place to go for all Shanghai related cuisine in the hotbed of Asian cuisine. Probably less than 5-10 minutes drive for one. Pretty much a slam dunk if you need something fulfilling. This place get the same kind of hype from the social media crowd as Mama's for the same exact dishes. So be warned when you find out there's a big wait for those dumplings and beef roll. Oh, one big difference: CASH ONLY.<br />

They just got featured last week for top chicken dishes place and now they're back in this dumpling rendition. This place has been around for quite awhile since the golden days of the 90s when Rowland Heights was awash with newly arrivals from Chinese and Taiwanese immigrants. Along with the Supreme Dragon Restaurant (old school colleagues will remembered this beloved shuttered place) was the go to place for dumplings. The only drawback is the tight parking spaces in the plaza that houses Ranch 99 supermarket.<br />
<br />
If you can get over this small mishap, you'll enjoyed many of the fine Chinese dishes that many people come to love. The traffic is rough in this area because of road construction since 4 years ago for tunnel road they will eventually finish, but it's worth the trek for this surround area.<br />

Whoa! A Korean restaurant entry. You probably never get to see that happened, but it's only right when there's a place like this only happens once in a while. Korean Military Stew which was popular among ex-patriots of the cold war days from our Southeast Asian neighbors. A dish that incorporate rationed food such as cheese, sausage and spam into soup. This restaurant serves some of the best stew and spicy noodles soup you'll find in this area if you don't wish to travel to hectic Koreatown.<br />
<br />
Don't sleep on their version of kimchi dumplings, which incorporate the salted and fermented vegetable into pork dumplings. It's already popular in commingled with fried rice, but with the steamed dumplings and a bit panned, these are simply superb.<br />

<br />
Hipsters can rejoice! There is a place for them on the eastside (sensitive topic for region gatekeepers). This well known, uber popular Taiwanese influenced housed some of the more aesthetics pleasing dishes for the uninitiated. As many are still not treating Taiwanese dishes as a finer cuisine until this place opened up in a busy stretch facing Sunset Blvd.<br />
<br />
The Chili won tons are the popular side dish many would get to accompany with their beef rolls or something less challenging to be nibble. Without a doubt, this was an mistaken item on their menu. Whenever I showed this photo, people knew where these won tons are from. Go figure!<br />

<br />
Unusual, but not really. This tiny little restaurant is a very old food court that probably seen more turnovers than a French bistro on Melrose Ave or Third Street on the westside of LA. The only constant in that fool hall (we called that now?) is this Shanghai restaurant that outlast most take out joints in this sleepy hallow of a plaza.<br />
<br />
Extremely popular for their pan fried dumplings over the juicy soup version. I probably would choose Mama's for that version. If you ever settled into this table service corner spot (the only one in that food hall that does not have a stall, but an open space), go for their dan dan mein as well.<br />

<br />
This place was bestowed upon me because of the fact I had to work late one night. My former boss who at the time decided to treat me to a dinner because I needed to finish some project. Apparently this hybrid of a Shanghai/Taiwanese/Northern Chinese cuisine place was a popular spot among the vast residents of east SGV. I didn't know how popular until I realized most chose this over another popular place in this plaza (checked it on Yelp, it got more reviews for that rival).<br />
<br />
Regardless in the lack of exposure, I'm pretty certain most residents is keeping this place on the down-low for their Shen Jiang Bao (pan fried) and many vast array of fried rice and fried noodle dishes. It's probably a good idea in not letting out-of-towners on this hot tidbit. </div>

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><div align="justify">In a city I want no part of, it's amazing I still coming here every other week.<br />
<br />
Not quite sure if was by design or by accident, I think this part of the area was more of tourist trap than any other city on the westside including Santa Monica or Venice. It fascinates me that a portion of the city is right dab smack in the heart of many hollywood types who have a studio nearby.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1796/43783582922_fc231cf60b_z.jpg" width="480" /></div><br />
Believe it or not, I love coming here for dinner or brunch. To AR Cucina, I definitely love coming here.<br />
<br />
While north portion of Hollywood gets starlets wannabes, I started to notice the industry workers tends hang out here in Culver City. People might not know them, but their credits on IMDB tends to rival the performers/actors anyway.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Untitled" height="640" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1779/43783582962_5f7be2a2ea_z.jpg" width="480" /></div><br />
This brings up the interesting thing about AR Cucina in a busier section of the street that caters for industry types, that are busier than Canon Blvd up in Beverly Hills or Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood. AR Cucina was a restaurant I followed closely back in the day when it used to be an Indian restaurant called Sambar. It abruptly changed to an Italian focused restaurant sometime in early last year.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Untitled" height="580" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/853/43831365631_248d0c491b_z.jpg" width="580" /><br />
<div align="center"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><b>Steak Tagliata</b> - medium rare grilled steak, salsa verde, pickled cipilloni onion, travioso radicchio</span></div></div><br />
I can tell you in that the setting almost remains the same with the cocktails serving here remains roughly the exact posh presentation as well. <div align="center"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><b>Polipo</b> - Grilled Octopus, Arugula, Fingering Potatoes, Fresno Chili</span></div></div><br />
Speaking of which, many of the naan reminds me of either a pita bread or pizza dough. Of course, I was thinking Indian fine cuisine was somewhat in style for the trend a few years back, I can see why this place wants to catch that hot trend of the moment.<br />
<br />
Back in the day, I loathed coming to this area because of the high pretentiousness of certain industry types I have to hang around with, but love the potential of cool vibes of certain part of the city. This restaurant along with its sister restaurant Akasha always gets me in a good mood.<br />
<br />
The other selling point was their outstanding happy hour nibbles and creative drinks that can soothes the wary naysayers such as myself. These drinks often inspires me to check out the other creations they might have and reduce me to a happy go lucky person by the end of the night. Luckily, this tends to be ever changing menu with different specialty based on the main components.<br />
<br />

<div align="center"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><b>Tagliatelle</b> - Pork & Beef Bolognese, Tomato Strattu, Paraigiano-Reggiano</span></div></div><br />
Oh, let's not forget about the pastas. It's probably the saving grace in this fine establishment. Especially the Tagliatelle, the Pork & Beef Bolognese version is the best I have encountered here. I also recommend any of Steak dishes they served that night. They do anything beef right in here. With so many Italian repertoire, it would be amiss if the steak is not present.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Untitled" height="580" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/852/42990611314_e274375998_z.jpg" width="580" /><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;">One Crazy dessert...</span></div><br />
Overall, I just love coming here to AR Cucina. I haven't really formally go to the flagship restaurant Akasha as I thought it was more of a date place during evenings where ARC is more of a cozy bistro. You will get the feeling of having the urge to check out the newer spots in downtown Culver City as there was a revolution of new places popping up along Culver City Blvd, Santa Monica Blvd and Jefferson.<br />
<br />
Now, I may want to come here for meal... living here in this city is still a love/hate thing for me that is hard to get over. People needs to live here to find out.<br />

<div align="justify">Underrepresented in here in LA for somewhat of an odd reason. It does have a sizable population from the southeast Asian country, but the best restaurant is in a hard to naviagate strip mall in Bellflower (Toko Rame) and through the word of mouth, a local vendor is selling from a back of a pick up truck somewhere in a Covina parking lot.</div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">Not a joke, one of my ex-coworker actually need to snap a photo of the menu that is posted on the side of the pick up truck and would have to pre-order the dishes, then go to that parking lot to pick it up. <div align="justify">Coming to this restaurant, I was already ,impressed the chic decor inside and the up tempo look of the patio table seating. Not exactly the low down simple comfort fare we come to expect. The upside on this is that we may get the fancier fare of an elegant treatment of this cozy cuisine.<br />
<br />
Nasi Goreng is still what I want. That to many of us can be just simply a fried rice, but with intricates of spices and seasoning, this can be a spectacular dish.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Untitled" height="580" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/929/43959220001_306d8571d9_z.jpg" width="580" /></div><br />
My other favorite dish was their interpretation of Snapper Ceviche. The seafood fare is fairly discounted in most Indonesian establishment, but doing it along the lines of their elevated dishes fits the theme here without further thoughts. I think it works well.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Untitled" height="427" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1812/30224554718_de147457f7_z.jpg" width="580" /></div><br />
Some of my fond memory in coming here was their pork belly. Their "Babi Guling" included this fabulous Balinese Salad as the pork belly was served with this Asian Chips just like the fried rice.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Untitled" height="427" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/851/42081262680_6c668a73bf_z.jpg" width="580" /></div><br />
Maybe we just count our lucky stars with this upscale fare, but it doesn't stopped there. The desserts was also fantastic as well. I just can't get over the feeling of how that Coconut Panna Cotta looks. It got the gelee in between panna cotta with the mango puree on top. Serves with banana gelato, it totally completed me.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><img alt="Untitled" height="427" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1840/43841498532_4cd68280de_z.jpg" width="580" /></div><br />
Their cocktails are phenomenal as well. Picture this for a second, even the passers by want to join in on a few drinks. That's how bad this looks. The patio seating invites the lookie loos and it's a great advertisement on how fantastic of a meal it wound up to be.<br />

Thoroughly impressed with this dining experience here at Kasih. I had one little wish though after this.... someone needs to help me find that pickup truck or at least show me the parking lot where I can find that other Indonesian fare.</div><div align="justify"><br />

The main reason for this list was that I don't feel like doing a review for every one of the place. It's a bit time consuming to try every thing. This weirdly get a ton of love early on, but was able to sustain after all these years (more than 5 to be exact). I always was meant to do a review of this place after few visits, but never got around. It's a good time to add in this perennial favorite. Think of karaage chicken you would have ordered from Japanese restaurants, then imagine when it's southern deep fried with the batter and kept its essence of flavor of ginger, garlic and soy.<br />
<br />
Voila! A cosmic creation. Oh, don't skimp on the creamy corn if you get a chance to get in to this place. Popular with the young hip foodie crowd.<br />

If there is ever a discussion about just "Best Fried Chicken", this place will always be on the top any of my list. I can't do a list of this magnitude without including this place. Seriously, it would do an injustice. Check out my love affair with this place in <a href="https://www.rightwaytoeat.com/2018/07/phat-birds.html" target="_blank">this review</a>.<br />

The charbroiled chicken in here always exploded with a mixture of lemon and pepper with a bag of tricks in their other spices. Their fries are also drenched with juices from their chicken and sauces are sure to delight the senses. Not going to lie, your clothes might smelled like the chicken after a while. Also, don't be alarmed if you need to take it to dry cleaning afterwards.<br />

You know it was coming. We can't leaved off any list without mentioning the steamed chicken variety of Hainan Chicken. It needs to be perfect and balance in 4 essential categories. The chicken itself needs to be juicy and plump with flavors. The skins itself needs to retain that unmistakable texture. Then you got the dipping sauces that can add another element in the taste without losing the essence of that original flavor. Oh, what else we're missing that is probably the most important about this dish?<br />
<br />
The rice. Yup, that needs to be infuse with the stock of the chicken broth and immerse it hours after. It's like sushi, you don't serve it plain. That's just wrong and criminally insane if you just accepted as such.<br />
<br />
Speaking of which, the best Hainan Chicken (Thai, Singapore, Malaysia, or any southeast Asian variety) that can be found is in inside of a rundown supermarket in Rosemead on a nondescript food court. Check them out, it's never on Eater LA's list for some reason.<br />

We already did a Fried Chicken place above with Phat Bird. I made some weird promises on not looking for places in locations people loathed to travel to. Yes, Culver City will be one of them with paid parking meters in abundances. So why here?<br />
<br />
I can't let anyone leaved without getting their honey infused chicken sandwich. That's why. Phat Bird and Tokyo Fried Chicken Co. has something in that variety, but Honey Kettle can parallel them in their offering of this sandwich that is solo in their menu. Strangely they don't offered any other sandwiches, other than just this one standalone. Take it for what its worth. A must ordered item if you happened to hit this part of the area in the uber trendy zone.<br />

I'm pretty sure everyone is thinking a Tokyo Rome, a hybrid version of the Tokyo Italian variety. Reading the name closely will give you a misspelled combination of international city. This Indonesian restaurant has been a mainstay in downtown Bellflower. With the expansion of many hype restaurants moving towards southeast LA area in Gateway cities, a new food hall will be building close to this popular Indonesian bistro that serves some of the most authentic southeast Asian fare.<br />
<br />
One of which is this buttered chicken that just melt in your mouth. Love it when it's bone in, as the skin and meat literally comes off the bone quick. Side note: It's a bit hard to get in to the parking lot. Almost required stunt drivers to maneuver into a parking space. Trust me it's not easy, but when you do get in... you might just want to stay there the whole day because it will take more effort to get out.<br />

This is a bit off the beaten path on the east side. New Golden City attracts a lot of family crowd for the easy comfort food of dumplings, beef roll cakes and noodles dishes. One of the more understated items tends to be the poultry dishes. In the alternative universe, a lot of people often surmise in Chinese restaurants in that you can't eff'd up a chicken dish.<br />
<br />
That's easy to do if you over cooked it or over sauced it (aka Kung Pao Chicken). This variety of their "House Chicken" is not only seasoned with the right amount of sauce, but it's also tender and juicy in its own right. It's a perfect a compliment to a bowl of steamed rice.<br />

Let's not forget about what's popular in southern California... Korean Fried Chicken (the real KFC). One of my favorite type is the soy garlic wings that many restaurants have tried to fashion. Some are very successful in adapting this, while others failed miserably. Needless to say, I will only showcased the best ones and Chef Kang's version is one of the best I have encountered in Koreatown.<br />
<br />
After his many ventures in catering side of the business, it was great to see that a brick and mortar restaurant is set up on a busy traffic side of Vermont Avenue in Koreatown. There are many dish to try from Crab Curry rice to his stewed ribs, but it's the soy garlic wings or Honey wings that are needed to be had in this fusion restaurant in this chicken tastings.<br />

Nope. Not talking about the ones with McCoys, but about the restaurant that was on the famed Melrose Avenue in the hey days.</div>

It's weird about the good ol' days where it seemed a new restaurant or at least the high class ones would opened up on that street in short amount of times. I still had that found memories of needing a scale map to plot it out. Kiddos, it's way before Yelp, Google Map, FourSquare or even Travel Advisor existed to help.</div>
<div align="justify">
<br /></div>
<div align="justify">
Nowadays, there's so much info going on an instant flash, you could hardly keep up with the new news. Even yesterday's news is old news. As you have heard, I have gone incognito for quite awhile. Never realized I didn't do a review of one of my fondest place until it was closed a few years back.<br />
<br />
So to my trusty google searched, I was able to find out that the husband and wife team of the namesake Hatfield's opened up a new restaurant in downtown called The Mighty. (although they did opened up Odys + Penelope and The Sycamore Kitchen).</div>

Even by my own standards, it took me awhile to figure out that they just opened sometimes last year in a block away from the beautiful Vibiana wedding venue. Looking at the menu, I was able to figure it out that some subtle differences between Hatfield's and The Mighty.</div>
<div align="justify">
<br /></div>
<div align="justify">
For one thing, it's more casual than fine dining. Whereas in I dealt with tasting menu in my previous dinners, the Mighty has many dishes in a la carte, which I probably preferred. Some of the dishes you can encountered in this restaurant are the elegant plating with the well thought out components for the dish.<br />

Interestingly, I read a few blog write up where they mentioned this was a breakfast place with pastries and hardy lunch meet up place. Even a brunch place during the weekend. Honestly folks... I don't do lunch, but I might make the exception for the Mighty. Especially any desserts or pastries coming from the Hatfields.<br />
<br />
That's another interesting thing, I am trying to get used to in not calling this place "Hatfield's" and start calling it The Mighty.<br />
<br />
ps: Right after I wrote this, they are limited to daytime hours for breakfast and lunch. Hopefully they bring back dinner service.<br />
